November 11 – ceasefire day, end date for the First World War. This year the event marks exactly 100 years. Special events were held in some games: somewhere with the presentation of the audience, somewhere from the developers themselves, and somewhere from charitable organizations.
As one of Reddit users writes, on November 11 at exactly 11 o’clock on one of the servers Battlefield 1 stopped shooting. Allies and opponents gathered together on the beach and really managed to hold out for some time without murders. But then the “wise man on the plane” flew in (as it was called on Reddit), opened fire and ruined the fraternity.
And after a few seconds, the author of the video received a mortal blow in the back. The killer even came to the discussion and apologized: he was annoyed that another team continues to destroy his opponents.

In the shooter Verdun The community also arranged an event. Enthusiasts invited everyone to a separate server and voiced an action plan: to open artillery fire, and then draw in silence for two minutes – without commands, voice or text chat. After that, the organizers proposed to do anything that did not lead to deaths.
As they write to Reddit, in Verdun There was also an event from the developers that simulates the Christmas truce of 1914: players could send postcards, drive football or snowballs and just spend time together. The authors also launched a special pass, all the profit from which went to charity.
Below is an illustration from the creators Verdun.
Organizations War Child And Children in Conflict launched a special sale in Steam, which supports games with peaceful gameplay: for example, The Talos Principle, Mini Metro, The Room or Machinarium. The percentage of income will be transferred to charity. The sale is still available and, apparently, will end the day after tomorrow.
Some games have special DLCs aimed at a good business. For example, for 11-11: Memories Retold You can acquire an addition to the side story line, which was written under inspiration from the real stories of children who fell into a military conflict. Part of the DLC profit is transferred to the fund War Child.
Note that 11-11: Memories Retold herself is dedicated to the centenary of the First World War and started shortly before the day of the ceasefire. We talked about her a little more about her here.
