The Deer Park is vibrating with sounds of percussion drums and various other musical instruments tuned together. As you step in the park, beats will lead you to a group of people in a circle, engrossed in playing their respective instruments. Delhi Drum Circle, started by Rakesh Mathur about six years back along with his friend from US who bore the seed of a community that would practice music while sitting in the tranquil environment and since then the trend has just caught on.

This group is open to anyone and everyone, the “circle” accommodates people from all walks of life, irrespective of age and sex. Though a majority is of Indians some foreigners are also seen moving their bodies and tapping their feet with the music you would find people ranging from the age of 7 up to the age of 60 here, living music!

The JAM session of drum circle usually begins at 5 in the evening. People can bring their own instruments and play along. The place takes you to another world where everyone is simply enjoying the music and dancing to the beats. Facebook being the only mode of communication among the members, they announce their meetings on their Facebook group page. People from all walks of life can be seen here whether they are students, lawyers, doctor, photographers, poets, and artists, you see them all. As soon as you enter the circle you can feel that you are moving to the trance, where you receive the positivity in abundance on the beats of delhi’s Drum circle.
