The police and municipal corporations are ordered by the Delhi Government to cancel the licenses of all the restaurants, eateries and hotels which provide hookah for smoking.Satyendar Jain, Delhi Health Minister makes it clear that smoking hookah was not allowed in non-smoking or as well as in smoking zones in the capital.

Mr. Jain has ordered the Delhi Police and Municipal Corporations that they should immediately cancel the licenses of every restaurant or eateries serving hookah.The minister has further added in his statement “as per section 4 of COTPA (Cigarette & other Tobacco Products Act),” hookah smoking is not allowed in non smoking zone.
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has taken a strict action on May 23, 2017, in which they strictly prohibit the use of hookah in the smoking zones also.
Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stated that, if you smoke a hookah for an hour, then it is equivalent to 200 puffs of cigarette. Many raids have been organized in the city by the state tobacco control cell.

After the chemical analysis of some samples, it is proofed that it consists of nicotine in significant amount, though originally, they were claimed to be herbal in nature.
No action was initiated by the government against these “illegally” running hookah bars from the last four years. Now they are more concerned about the coming generation from smoking hookah, which can cause harmful effects to their body.
The violations are still doing raids in many parts of Delhi. It is proofed that hookah smoking is prohibited in restaurants/eateries/hotels in metropolitan cities.
People think that hookah is a safe alternative to smoking, but they are unaware of the fact that, it is even more harmful for their health.
