Instead of Ghazipur, 50 acres land from a village called Rani Khera in Mundka has been allotted to EDMC for dumping the garbage waste of east Delhi. On Friday, local residents of the village started protesting against government by fighting with the MCD workers and puncturing the tyres of garbage trucks as they reached on their land. They said that this is a highly populated residential area to put garbage here and risking people’s life as it may cause adverse effect on their health.” Also in 2005, this land was acquired by the government and was reserved for development purpose. “This is a green land and putting a waste on it would create an unhealthy environment to live in”, Villagers said.
They are ready to die but will not let the garbage dumped there. Rapidly increasing protest forced the MCD workers put the garbage back into the trucks and leave. The protest also had some women and children opposing the authority at the landfill site.

While seeing the situation police force came at the site yet garbage was not dumped due to the protest. According to the villagers there is not even a single hospital in the region within 15kms. Not only from Rani Khera but people from Rasulpur, Madanpur, Parvesh Nagar, Meer Vihar, Yogiraj Puram, Ghavera, Prem Nagar etc. also participated. They said that the land is a pollution free zone as it has a huge number of trees. But if the garbage will be collected here, the environmental condition will get started tending to worsen.

According to villagers if the land is utilized to build up hospitals and schools then they will have no objection against the government.  They also said that if government will act stubborn to create this land a garbage dumping site, our land should be given back to us.
