Giving a major blow to the Central Government, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has stayed its order to ban the diesel vehicles which are running for more than 10 years in the NCR, including the national capital Delhi. Also the petrol vehicles which are on the roads for more than 15 year will also be banned by NGT.

NGT has rejected the appeal made by central government to stop the ban on such diesel vehicles. Central government also appealed NGT to modulate their order. After this decision diesel and petrol vehicles over 10 and 15 year will be permanently banned. Central government has also appealed in Supreme Court after this decision taken by NGT. But Supreme Court referred it back to the NGT.

National Green Tribunal bans diesel vehicles running for more than 10 years

In 2015, NGT banned these vehicles in its interim order. This case was pending since 2014. Central government is against the motion of banning diesel vehicles on the basis of age limit while on the other hand, NGT is in the motion for banning the old diesel vehicles. It is proved by the reports of IIT that diesel vehicles causes more pollution in the environment but the Central government is defending by saying that diesel vehicles cause very less amount of pollution in the environment.
