Two followers of a jailed self-styled Godman Rampal, died while cleaning sewer at Rampal’s ashram which is situated in Mundka area at Outer Delhi. Few others also got injured while trying to pull out the victims-recognized as Makhan Lal (27) and Amarjeet (30), who died in this incident. A case under IPC section 304 (a) (causing death by negligence) has been registered. Sources said that the two inside sewer died as they were chocked from the toxic gases.
DCP of outer Delhi, Pankaj Singh said that the incident occurred around 3pm on Monday and police was called around 3:30pm. The victims lost consciousness due to suffocation while they were inside the sewer. Victims were taken to Cygnus Sonia hospital Nangloi but, the doctors found them dead till then. Dead bodies of the victims are now shifted to Sanjay Gandhi hospital for post-mortem and will be handed over to their families later. Police said that a legal action would be taken against the ashram committee.
