Man Robbed $1400 from a Chinese passenger at IGI

A 35-year-old man was allegedly arrested in Mumbai for stealing $1,400 from the handbag of Chinese passenger At Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi. Police said that the suspect was travelling from Delhi to Mumbai where he got arrested.

The incident took place on 30th September. Victim Chen Yang, who was also traveling from Delhi to Mumbai, found that his bag opened after the X-ray scanning and realized that $1400 was missing. If activities like this keep going on at IGI airport, very soon the terminals will start getting popular as chor bazaar Delhi.

When the incident happened, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Airport) Sanjay Bhatia said that the police had started scanning the CCTV footage and they saw a person stealing the money from the bag.Later the police identified the robber as Rajesh Kapoor, who was travelling to Mumbai. The CISF and the local police at the airport were informed about him and he was arrested on the spot. His criminal record was full with similar theft cases. Police came to know that in January he has stolen three credit cards from a cabin bag on a flight. He thinks that the chance of being caught at the airport is very less as nobody suspects such incidents could happen at the airport or during a flight.
